Liverpool are reportedly set to discuss the transfer of Fabio Carvalho with Fulham and the 19-year-old, after failing with a move on deadline day.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool and Fulham are set to come back to the table to reignite discussions for Fabio Carvalho’s transfer. The Merseysiders could not complete a move for the teenager on deadline day, but they remain hopeful of bringing him to Anfield in the summer.

Liverpool ended the January transfer window with just one senior signing. They might have liked to conduct more business. However, the difficulty of getting the right players in the winter market was more than evident for big clubs, especially from the Premier League.

While they have been lauded for their capture of Luis Diaz from FC Porto from under the noses of Tottenham late in the window, Liverpool did miss out on another prospective signing from Fulham right at the death.

Liverpool were close to signing Fabio Carvalho from Fulham on deadline day in a reported £5 million deal. All indicators pointed towards a successful completion of the move, only for it to collapse late on deadline day. The late drama did briefly put Carvalho’s future in doubt, as other clubs were expected to take advantage of the situation.

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing the teenager and could look to make a Bosman move in the summer. Carvalho’s contract expires at the end of the season, which could enable clubs from outside England to get the 19-year-old attacking sensation on a free transfer quickly.

However, if clubs from England are to sign Carvalho, Fulham will be due a sizeable fee in compensation regardless, even though his contract is expiring in the summer. Hence Liverpool and the Cottagers are ready to re-open talks over a summer transfer for the teenage prodigy.

Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Liverpool are still pushing to complete a deal for Carvalho, although they remain aware of other competitors coming into the picture. The Merseyside giants are keen to recruit the 19-year-old attacking sensation as Klopp deems him ideal for the club’s long-term future.

It remains to be seen what sort of fee Liverpool will finalise with Fulham for Carvalho. While the compensation is expected to be modest at best, it could be near the £5 million mark the Reds had offered near the end of the previous window.
