Liverpool and Manchester City are reportedly tracking the situation of Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, a priority target for Real Madrid.

According to a report by ESPN, Manchester City and Liverpool are closely monitoring the situation of Kylian Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain. The French international is a priority target for Real Madrid and will likely join Los Blancos on a Bosman move in the summer transfer window.

Kylian Mbappe has transformed into a powerhouse of an attacking player since his breakthrough campaign at club level in the 2016/17 season. After a stunning campaign with AS Monaco, the 23-year-old joined Paris Saint-Germain in August 2017, and he has not looked back since then.

To date, the French international has amassed 151 goals and 77 assists in 200 appearances for PSG. At the same time, the player has also become a pivotal figure for the French national side, playing a key role in their 2018 FIFA World Cup win. But after entering the final six months of his PSG contract, Mbappe looks destined for a new challenge, with Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City hot on his trail.

Real Madrid’s interest in Mbappe is long-standing, with Los Blancos even attempting to sign him for a nine-figure sum last summer. With Mbappe entering the final months of his PSG contract, Real Madrid’s position has become stronger, with recent reports claiming they have reached a pre-contract agreement to sign him.

Like Real Madrid, Liverpool’s interest in Mbappe has run for several years. The Reds are in a spot of bother over Mohamed Salah’s long-term future, with the Egyptian now in the final 18 months of his contract. Salah is interestingly a possible option to replace Mbappe at PSG, and a departure could be possible if a renewal is not finalised by the summer.

As for Manchester City, Julian Alvarez’s arrival in the summer is unlikely to stop their spending on attacking players, especially with Raheem Sterling facing an uncertain future at the Etihad. The English international has been heavily linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG, and Mbappe could replace Sterling if he leaves Manchester City.

But there is nothing to suggest that Mbappe wants to join a club other than Real Madrid, meaning it will take a miracle for Liverpool and Manchester City to convince him to arrive in the Premier League instead. Mbappe is poised to join Real Madrid on a Bosman move as things stand.
