Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester City are set to battle each other for Valencia star Carlos Soler.

According to Fichajes, Arsenal and Manchester City are interested in Valencia star Carlos Soler after the player rejected an offer to extend his deal at the Mestalla.

The 25-year-old came through the ranks at Valencia, making his first-team bow in 2016. He has since made 204 appearancesscoring 31 goals and assisting 28 times more. Soler has taken his performances up a notch of late, scoring eight times in just 19 appearances this season.

A central midfielder, who can fulfil various roles both in attack and midfield, Soler is an all-action player. An athletic presence to boot, he would add dynamism to most sides across Europe. This is especially true for Arsenal, who are crying out for inspiration in the middle for the park.

The Gunners have primarily relied on Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe to carry the ball forward from midfield. Martin Odegaard has been inconsistent, while Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka have also flattered to deceive. Adding Soler in the middle of the park will be a step in the right direction as Mikel Arteta looks to rebuild Arsenal into a bastion of invincibility.

Manchester City, however, are in a much better position and have a title-winning team at their disposal. However, Pep Guardiola has consistently added to his side, ensuring they stay at the top of the pyramid. The Catalan boss can take Soler to the next level, and it remains to be seen if the 25-year-old Spaniard will join Rodri in the middle of the park at the Etihad.

Soler has under 18 months left on his current contract at the Mestalla, and Valencia are keen to see him extend his stay at the club. As things stand, the player does not appear too eager to commit his future to Los Che and could be on the move in the summer transfer window.

The Spaniard is also seeking a lucrative payday, something that he could get at Arsenal or Manchester City. The former have freed up space on their wage bill following the January exit of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and are in a position to offer Soler a lucrative deal. Manchester City, meanwhile, should have no issues providing the player better terms either.

With time running out on his contract, Valencia could be pushed into making a decision this summer. With several Premier League teams in the fray, it remains to be seen what Soler decides to do.
