RB Leipzig and AC Milan are reportedly ready to rival Leeds United in the race to sign Red Bull Salzburg whizkid Brenden Aaronson.

If Transfermarkt’s Manuel Veth is to be believed, Leeds United are set to face stiff competition from AC Milan and RB Leipzig in the pursuit of Brenden Aaronson. The Red Bull Salzburg playmaker has emerged as one of the most sought-after talents in Europe after making his breakthrough in Austrian Bundesliga.

Leeds United were said to be interested in landing Aaronson in the January transfer window. However, their reported £15 million bid was reportedly knocked back by Salzburg. The Premier League outfit were prepared to make an improved offer for the American attacker, but the move never really worked out.

A native of Medford, New Jersey, Aaronson joined Red Bull Salzburg at the start of last year. In just 12 months, the youngster has become a key player for the Austrian giants, racking up over 50 competitive appearances while being involved in 22 goals.

An attacking midfielder by trade, the 21-year-old has impressed the onlookers with his ability to create chances in the final third. He is versatile enough to play on both flanks as well, while the American can also be deadly in front of goal, making him a well-rounded option for any club in Europe.

While Leeds remain in pursuit of the American international, the recent interest from RB Leipzig and AC Milan could be devastating for Marcelo Bielsa and co. Milan, for one, are one of the largest clubs in Europe and can offer the youngster the opportunity of partnering up with some of the most talented stars in world football, as Stefano Pioli’s men once again look to compete for the Scudetto next season.

RB Leipzig could be a bigger challenge for Leeds United in the pursuit of Brenden Aaronson. Salzburg is considered the sister club of the Bundesliga giants and have shipped them many talented players in the past.

With Christopher Nkunku facing an uncertain future at the club, amid interest from Liverpool, Leipzig could be tempted to bring Aaronson to the Bundesliga next season.

Not to mention, Leeds United have a fractured relationship with the Red Bull franchise due to the Jean-Kevin Augustin row that has left both the parties displeased with each other. With that in mind, the American international’s potential move to Elland Road might only be a pipedream in the upcoming summer transfer window.
