Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United have reportedly initiated contact with Aurelien Tchouameni, a target for Real Madrid.

According to a report by French outlet RMC Sport, Aurelien Tchouameni has become a highly sought-after commodity in the transfer market. Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United have contacted the AS Monaco midfielder, with Real Madrid also keen on signing him.

Aurelien Tchouameni has gone from strength to strength since joining AS Monaco from Bordeaux in January 2020. In the last two years, the 22-year-old has also broken into the French national side, playing a part in their UEFA Nations League triumph last year.

To date, Tchouameni has made 76 appearances for Monaco, with 31 outings coming in the ongoing campaign. His stock has skyrocketed in the last two years, with a gamut of high profile clubs across Europe showing an interest in him. Some of his prospective suitors are Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Manchester United.

Tchouameni has been heavily linked with Real Madrid for months now, as the Merengues look to lay down a succession plan for the first-choice midfield trio of Casemiro, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. The 22-year-old will particularly come in to replace Casemiro in the long run, which is why Real Madrid have amped up their interest at the turn of the year.

Barcelona’s links with Tchouameni are fairly new, although the Blaugrana could do with someone like the Frenchman, considering Sergio Busquets is approaching the end of his glittering career. As for Liverpool, the interest in Tchouameni is surprising, as Fabinho is the undisputed first-choice defensive midfielder.

But the Reds seem to be keen on signing Tchouameni, having already contacted his entourage. But unlike Liverpool, Manchester United could do with a holding midfielder like the AS Monaco star, considering Nemanja Matic is no longer a regular, while neither Scott McTominay nor Fred are defensive midfielders.

Apart from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City are also showing an interest in Tchouameni. The race to sign the 22-year-old thus appears to be heating up, with the youngster likely to leave AS Monaco in the summer transfer window to join a European bigwig.
