Arsenal could make a last-ditch attempt to lure Dejan Kulusevski to the Emirates as the 21-year-old attacker closes in on joining Tottenham.

According to Alfredo Pedulla, Arsenal have contacted Juventus in a last-ditch attempt to sign Dejan Kulusevski before the transfer deadline. The 21-year-old Swedish attacker is primed to leave Juventus this month, with Tottenham understood to be the front-runner to secure his signature.

Dejan Kulusevski has emerged as a big target for both north London clubs this month. Tottenham and Arsenal have both been keen on signing the Swede since the beginning of the month, and an outcome over his future might become clear on deadline day.

While Arsenal have been hot on his trail since the start of January, they cooled their interest in the 21-year-old Serie A attacker to focus their attention on signing Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbian ace eventually decided to join Juventus in a big move, leaving the Gunners pondering over seeking alternatives.

Arsenal have been in search of a midfielder and an attacker in this window. There have been linked with Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz in the last few days, but it seems they have switched their attention to Kulusevski ahead of deadline day. This season, the Swede is primed to leave Juventus after falling out of Massimiliano Allegri’s plans.

According to the latest rumours, the Gunners have contacted the Serie A giants in a last-ditch attempt to lure the attacker to the Emirates. Their biggest challenge is to convince Juventus and the 21-year-old to ditch a move to arch-rivals Tottenham, who are close to landing the Swede before Monday’s deadline.

Tottenham have strengthened their position in the last few days after suffering setbacks in pursuing primary targets. They have earmarked Kulusevski to improve their attacking options after being rejected by Adama Traore and Luis Diaz this week, with the players choosing to join Barcelona and Liverpool, respectively.

Arsenal may not seem to be in need of signing a winger, but when one of their main targets in Kulusevski becomes available, they do not want to miss out. As things stand, Spurs have an agreement in place with Juventus for the 21-year-old attacker, although things are known to change dramatically in the last hours of the window.

Kulusevski could be a good signing for either of the north London clubs as he provides something different in the final third than their current options. Arsenal have a well-stocked range of wide attackers at the club, but Mikel Arteta is looking to add another player who could give them a new dimension.

Spurs may have the upper hand in the chase so far, but they have to be wary of Arsenal’s presence in the negotiations. The final decision will remain with Kulusevski and Serie A giants Juventus, who will look to recoup most of the money they paid for the Swede.
