After having their initial bid for Luis Diaz knocked back by FC Porto, Tottenham could be ready to make a new offer in the coming days for the Colombian.

According to ESPN, Tottenham could be preparing a new offer for Luis Diaz after FC Porto rejected their initial bid for the 25-year-old attacker. Antonio Conte remains keen on bringing in the Colombian this month, although a move could depend upon the Portuguese club’s demands for their star player.

Tottenham are digging their heels to complete some important transfers before the transfer deadline. Antonio Conte has been vocal about the lack of quality in the squad ever since he arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Italian tactician has requested Spurs to make some necessary additions, which will allow him to challenge for a top-four finish.

While Tottenham find themselves in a good position on the Premier League table and with a shout to finish in Champions League places, there are areas Conte would like to improve. Spurs have long been linked with Adama Traore, although the Spanish international is unlikely to join them.

As per latest reports, it seems like Barcelona have stolen the march on Tottenham and are on the verge of signing Traore. While Spurs may have been left disappointed with the outcome, they remain in the hunt for a left-sided attacker in Luis Diaz.

Porto have already rejected Tottenham’s initial offer of €45 million, but they remain open to negotiating a better fee for the Colombian international. It is still quite unclear whether Diaz wants a move to north London or if he is waiting on offers better than the one from Tottenham.

Liverpool were also a part of the race to sign him at one stage, with Jurgen Klopp identifying him as a solid option to improve the Reds’ squad. There could be other clubs in the equation, although no team will be willing to trigger his massive €80 million release clause.

Spurs are expected to retain their interest in the 25-year-old Colombian attacker, with the Premier League giants likely to return with a new offer. With only days left in the transfer window, Tottenham will have to quickly put together a better proposal and hope Diaz likes the idea of a move to north London.

It remains to be seen how much Porto might demand to let go of their star player, who has been integral to their progress this season. Tottenham have traditionally been averse to paying more than their valuations for a player, and the definitive price demand could prove crucial in completing this particular deal.

This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, we need a left footed centre back and a right wing back much more than a left winger.
It’s just Levy wasting more time.
How much money does Conte have as a budget? If we’re to spend £50m on a player we’re not desperate to get.
