Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte is reportedly eyeing an ambitious move to sign Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku.

A recent report from Calciomercato has dropped a bombshell on Tottenham Hotspur and the club’s plans in the attacking department. The Londoners were among the clubs to have recently missed out on the pursuit of Dusan Vlahovic. The Fiorentina striker is increasingly likely to join Juventus, leaving the club in a spot of bother as they prepare for the future without Harry Kane.

The English international is indeed expected to leave north London at the end of the season, with Manchester City reportedly rekindling their pursuit. However, in an attempt to replace Kane next season, manager Antonio Conte is eyeing an ambitious move to sign Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Italian mastermind is aware of Lukaku’s precarious situation at Stamford Bridge, having failed to live up to the expectations after joining from Inter in the summer. In 16 Premier League appearances, the striker has netted just five goals, three of which were scored in the first three matches.

Lukaku is yet to score in any of his last three league matches, with the Belgian most recently playing against Spurs. However, his issues on the pitch haven’t been the only problem for Chelsea, who were upset with the striker’s controversial comments about a return to Inter Milan earlier this season.

His comments particularly angered coach Thomas Tuchel, whose fractured relationship with the striker is now leading to speculation over Lukaku’s long-term future at the club.

Paris Saint-Germain are already expected to come forward with a €90 million proposal in the summer in an attempt to lure the Belgian to Ligue 1 next summer.

Les Parisien are now set to face stiff competition from Tottenham in the pursuit of Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian international has an excellent relationship with Conte, thanks to their time together at Inter. In fact, it was under the leadership of the Italian when Lukaku was able to revive his career after a difficult spell with Manchester United.

However, it remains highly unlikely that Chelsea would want to sanction the sale of their marquee player to a direct rival, especially considering the success Lukaku achieved under Conte at Inter. Perhaps a lot will depend on how Spurs plan to offload to Kane, knowing Chelsea certainly won’t be averse to a direct swap deal between the two.
