Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made a €45 million bid to sign FC Porto attacker Luiz Diaz, with Antonio Conte eyeing a late swoop.

According to Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepulveda, Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a late January move for Luis Diaz. It appears they have made a fresh approach worth around €45 million in an attempt to lure the Colombian to English shores. They have given FC Porto 48 hours to respond as we head towards the business end of the winter transfer window.

Formerly of Barranquilla, Diaz has been one of the most sought-after prospects in the European market lately. Since a successful Copa America last summer that saw him finish the campaign as the tournament’s joint-highest goal-scorer alongside Gianluca Lapadula and Lionel Messi, the attacker has gone from strength to strength.

In just 18 matches in Liga Bwin, the 25-year-old has netted 14 goals, more than the combined total of just eight in his first two seasons at the club. His recent rise to prominence has put multiple clubs on red alert, with the player himself prepared to take the next step in his career.

Earlier in the month, Liverpool were listed as the favourites to sign Luis Diaz, but it appears the move collapsed due to FC Porto’s hefty valuation of the player. However, the Colombian attacker’s potential move to England in January has not been ruled out just yet, with Tottenham making a late attempt to convince Porto.

The Lilywhites are in the market for a new attacker this month, as Antonio Conte looks to enhance his options in the wider areas of the pitch. Tottenham have been linked with a swoop for Wolves attacker Adama Traore, though the move is yet to be finalised.

Tottenham’s recent interest in Diaz suggests the Londoners are open to potential alternatives. However, it remains unlikely that Porto would want to offload their attacking asset for just €45 million. The revered Colombian still has a contract until 2024 and given his impressive performances, it won’t be surprising to see other clubs forking out a bigger fee in the summer transfer window.

Not to mention, Diaz’s presence in the team could be critical in Porto’s bid to regain the Portuguese league title. They are currently leading the Liga Bwin table, but with Sporting CP breathing down their necks, they simply cannot afford to lose one of their star players in the middle of the season.

So Levy makes one bid he knows will be rejected and then refuses to increase it.
Make it look like he’s after the top talent, fools the fickle Spurs fans, mind you even they aren’t falling for Levy’s underhand tactics anymore.
Levy, Lewis and ENIC OUT !!!
