Luka Jovic has reportedly emerged as an alternative to Dusan Vlahovic for Arsenal, with the Gunners lining up a loan move for the Real Madrid striker.

According to a report by The Sun, Luka Jovic is the subject of interest from Arsenal over a possible loan move in the ongoing transfer window. The Gunners are eyeing the Real Madrid striker as an alternative to Dusan Vlahovic, with the Serb set to join Juventus.

Luka Jovic has endured a horrific time since joining Real Madrid from Eintracht Frankfurt in July 2019. The Merengues signed the Serbian striker as a possible long-term successor for Karim Benzema. But the Frenchman has elevated his levels enormously, with Jovic being a bit-part player in the first-team squad as a result.

To make matters worse for himself, the 24-year-old has failed to take his chances, managing only three goals and four assists in 47 appearances for Real Madrid. But that has not done anything to reduce the Serb’s stature in the eyes of prospective suitors, with Arsenal one of the clubs keen on signing him.

The Gunners are keen on signing a striker in the ongoing transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The former Arsenal captain has been frozen out of the first-team picture by Mikel Arteta after several disciplinary breaches.

Aubameyang’s delicate situation has left Arteta with Alexandre Lacazette as the only senior striker at his disposal, with Eddie Nketiah a backup option. With Nketiah keen on leaving Arsenal this month amid links with Aston Villa and Lacazette not being too prolific, the north Londoners need to sign a striker before the transfer deadline.

Dusan Vlahovic had emerged as Arsenal’s priority target , with the club prepared to offer a handsome sum to prise him away from Fiorentina. But the Serbian striker has his heart set on joining Juventus, which is why the Gunners have now turned their attention towards Vlahovic’s compatriot and Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic.

The north Londoners are looking to sign Jovic on a loan deal for the remainder of the season and could approach Real Madrid soon to complete a late move. Other than Jovic, former Real Madrid striker Raul De Tomas is also on Arsenal’s radar, although they will need to finalise one transfer soon or miss out on signing a centre-forward altogether.
