La Liga giants Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up the prospect of launching the offensive to sign 22-year-old Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Alexander Isak is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Spanish giants have scouted the 22-year-old Real Sociedad striker for close to two years.

Alexander Isak has resurrected a stuttering career since joining Real Sociedad from Borussia Dortmund in July 2019. After struggling to take the next step in his career at Signal Iduna Park, the Swedish international has belatedly done so at the La Liga club, going from strength to strength while becoming a key figure for his national side.

The 22-year-old is enjoying a solid 2021/22 campaign even though he has not been too prolific thus far. Isak has eight goals and two assists in 25 appearances across all competitions this term, and his performances have been noticed by some of the most high profile clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid.

Real Madrid will reportedly enter the market for a striker in the summer transfer window, even though Karim Benzema is in the form of his life. But with the French striker well into his thirties, the Spanish giants need to lay down a succession plan for him at the earliest opportunity.

Erling Haaland is reportedly the priority target for Real Madrid, even though recent reports have claimed that their interest in the Borussia Dortmund striker has cooled. But with Real Madrid facing stiff competition in pursuit of the Norwegian international from several European bigwigs, including Bayern Munich, they will need to keep their options open.

Isak could be a viable contingency option for Real Madrid to that end, although the Swede is also a highly coveted player in the transfer market. The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with clubs like Arsenal, West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and even Real Madrid’s arch-rivals Barcelona.

The La Liga heavyweights have scouted Isak for nearly two years, and the reports on the youngster have been glowing. So if a move for Haaland does not materialise, it will not be surprising to see Real Madrid set sights on Isak in the summer transfer window.
