Newcastle United have reportedly joined a host of Spanish clubs in the chase for Tottenham youngster Bryan Gil, who is on the loan market this month.

According to Fichajes, Newcastle United are among the teams vying for the signature of Tottenham youngster Bryan Gil on loan this month. Spurs could be open to letting the Spaniard leave for an English club to gain valuable experience in the Premier League, despite plenty of offers from his homeland.

Bryan Gil somewhat shocked some sections of Spanish fans who were keen to see the former Sevilla youngster at the likes of Real Madrid or Barcelona. He left La Liga to sign for Tottenham, who paid €25 million-plus Erik Lamela for the 20-year-old.

While integrating into English football takes plenty of time, Gil has managed 20 appearances across all competitions, including sporadic outings in the Premier League, all from the bench. Spurs have been considering sending him out on loan, as Antonio Conte wants to trim his squad and bring in new stars in this window.

There has been significant interest from La Liga sides in the youngster, including Sevilla, who are gunning for his return in January. The player himself might have preferred to return to Spain, although it appears Spurs have been waiting for some of the English clubs to express their intention of taking him on a loan deal.

Newcastle United might be interested in a temporary move for the 20-year-old, as they seek an exciting addition to their attacking third. While the Magpies may not represent an attractive destination in current circumstances, they could certainly offer more game-time to the young winger.

Tottenham could be keen to sanction such a move because it will give Bryan Gil valuable experience in the Premier League. However, Valencia are also interested in the Spaniard and could look to tempt the attacker away in January.

As things stand, the 20-year-old cannot break into Conte’s side. The only reasonable playing time will be in the FA Cup and sporadic minutes in the Premier League if he decides to stay.

Bryan Gil needs considerable minutes and exposure under his belt for his development. He could get this at Newcastle, although back in Spain, he will be back in familiar territory, away from the pressures of English football.
