Spanish giants Real Madrid are reportedly tracking the progress of 18-year-old English international Jude Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund.

According to a report by Spanish publication MARCA, Jude Bellingham is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in a future transfer window. The 18-year-old English international is one of five prodigious prospects on the radar of the Spanish giants.

Jude Bellingham is widely regarded as one of the best young midfielders in Europe, having made a remarkable impact since making his senior debut in club-level football in August 2019 as a 16-year-old at Birmingham. The youngster’s stock has only risen further in the last 18 months, with the Englishman joining Borussia Dortmund in July 2020.

To date, the 18-year-old has made 74 appearances for Borussia Dortmund, chipping in with eight goals and 14 assists in the process. At the same time, Bellingham has also established a foothold in the English national side, becoming an increasingly important member in the Three Lions setup. Suffice to say, his progress has duly been noticed by some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid.

Real Madrid could enter the market for a central midfielder in the summer transfer window, with Dani Ceballos and Isco’s futures at the club shrouded in uncertainty. In addition, with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos approaching the end of their glittering careers, the Spanish giants also need to lay down a succession plan for them.

Several midfielders, including Ryan Gravenberch, have recently been linked with Real Madrid as a result, with the Merengues now setting their sights on Bellingham. While the English international will not be a like-for-like replacement for either Modric or Kroos, his tendency to score crucial goals can add a new dimension to the Real Madrid midfield.

Apart from the 18-year-old Borussia Dortmund prodigy, several other talented youngsters are on Real Madrid’s radar. Some of the names on their scouting list include Endrick, Florian Wirtz and Gravenberch.

As for the pursuit of Bellingham, Real Madrid’s task will not be easy, as the young midfielder has been heavily linked with several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester United. But the report suggests that Bellingham has no desire of returning to England anytime soon, which leaves Real Madrid in a healthy position in pursuing the 18-year-old.
