Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly closing in on the capture of Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, who is set for a loan move to France.

According to Rudy Galetti, Paris Saint-Germain are on the verge of securing a deal to sign Tanguy Ndombele. The Ligue 1 giants are in advanced talks with Tottenham Hotspur surrounding a short-term loan deal for the 25-year-old midfielder, who could soon be set for a medical at Parc des Princes.

Ndombele’s move to PSG could be vital in the broader context of the two teams’ transfer policy in the remaining days of the transfer market and even in the summer. Tottenham, for one, are desperate to secure the services of Adama Traore of Wolves, and the Frenchman’s departure could be vital in helping them fund the reported £20 million move.

PSG, for their part, are actively looking for a creative midfielder in light of Georginio Wijnaldum’s struggles at Parc des Princes. With just one goal in 18 league appearances, the Dutchman has failed to live up to the expectations and acclimatise himself to the new conditions in the French capital.

Wijnaldum’s struggles at PSG have even led to speculation over his long-term future at the club. He is already courted by a few Premier League clubs, with Arsenal reportedly in pole position to snap up the former Liverpool star.

Wijnaldum’s potential exit creates a massive void in PSG’s creative department, especially with Lionel Messi struggling with form. The addition of Ndombele, to that end, could prove to be an ideal solution as Mauricio Pochettino looks to add more creativity in the middle of the park.

With just six starts in the Premier League for Tottenham, Ndombele has not had the best of starts this season and has fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte. However, the Frenchman has a proven track record in Ligue 1, thanks to a successful spell at Lyon.

PSG are hoping that the 25-year-old midfielder can rekindle those performances in his likely return to the French top-flight. At the same time, his potential arrival at the club could pose questions over the club’s pursuit of Paul Pogba.

The Manchester United playmaker is reportedly a top summer target for Les Parisiens, with his current contract at Old Trafford coming to an end. So it will be interesting to see how PSG go about its business in regards to their activity in the transfer market.
