Tottenham could be closing in on the capture of Adama Traore, with Antonio Conte increasingly keen on the Wolves winger.

According to Fichajes, Tottenham could be pushing closer to signing Adama Traore in this window. Spurs boss Antonio Conte is reportedly keen on bringing the Spanish winger to solve his problems on the right side of the attack.

Antonio Conte has made it abundantly clear to the Tottenham hierarchy that the playing squad needs to be strengthened in the current window. At the same time, technical director Fabio Paratici is reportedly hard at work to bring in players requested by the manager, who is specific with his style of play.

The Italian prefers to play with a back three and wing-backs, with the latter tasked heavily towards contributing in the final third. Current options, particularly on the right side, such as Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty, have been unconvincing in their performances, and Conte now seeks fresh players to fulfil the role.

One of the prominent names linked with the role is Adama Traore. Conte has earmarked the Wolves star to come in the January window and boost his side’s attacking options. The powerful winger has 18 months left on his current deal and has reportedly refused to commit to a new contract with the Midlands outfit.

He was earlier reported to be keen on a return to Barcelona, but considering the Catalan side’s finances, a deal seems unlikely. Meanwhile, Wolves could be tempted to cash in this month, considering his value will dip considerably in the summer, meaning they could entertain a reasonable offer from Spurs.

Tottenham were reportedly prepared to spend £18 million for the Spaniard, although it’s understood Wolves may want more. The north London side is also ready to offer players in part-exchange, which also may not convince the Midland club. Recent reports suggest they might have reached a verbal agreement with the winger, although they are yet to shake hands on the final fee.

It does look like Spurs are increasingly keen on the winger who is familiar with the wingback role as well. His qualities with the ball and ability to make bursting, powerful runs have kept other clubs in the chase for the Spaniard. Even Chelsea are reportedly keeping tabs on his situation and could rival Spurs for his signature.

As things stand, Spurs might have the upper hand in the chase for Traore. It remains to be seen what sort of offer the north London side will make to convince Wolves over a sale this month.
