Ralf Rangnick is reportedly pondering a few changes to the Manchester United squad, with Wolves defender Max Kilman under consideration.

According to 90 min, Manchester United hold an interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Max Kilman who has enjoyed an impressive Premier League campaign under Bruno Lage. The Red Devils could be looking at signing a new defender, and the 24-year-old could be a part of that plan.

The Ralf Rangnick era at Old Trafford has not had the best starts. Despite only losing once so far since the German’s arrival, Manchester United have produced some subdued performances on the pitch, which have been far from convincing and raised questions about the team’s direction.

The interim manager might consider a few opportunities in this transfer window to bring in some necessary reinforcements to strengthen the squad. Manchester United are competing for a top-four place now and have seen slip-ups in their quest for the same. They also have an FA Cup and Champions League campaign to look forward to.

Additionally, a few of Manchester United’s players could also depart the club this month. Considering those possible outgoings, Rangnick might look to bring in new players, fill the void left by those leaving, and accommodate specific players into his new formation that looks increasingly like a 4-3-3.

Rangnick is looking for a central midfielder and a defender, in particular. Manchester United are already linked with Amadou Haidara over a possible move this month, and a transfer will depend on how talks progress. Meanwhile, a few defenders could be leaving and will need replacing with quality options.

Phil Jones is one of the likeliest to depart, while there are rumours surrounding Eric Bailly in the ongoing window. If either centre-back leaves, Manchester United will have to keep an eye on a replacement. Wolves’ Max Kilman, who has had an impressive season in the Premier League so far.

The 24-year-old has become an important part of Bruno Lage’s side and cemented his place in the back three. Kilman has made 20 Premier League appearances this term and has become integral to Wolves’ rise under Lage. While his importance may be only just growing, the Midlands club may be reluctant to sell him just yet.

Kilman is getting his strides right at Wolves, but he may not be a first choice centre-back if he joins Manchester United. Considering the likes of Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, and Raphael Varane are all likely to be ahead in the pecking order, moving to Old Trafford may not be good for his development just yet.

Moreover, he has a long-term contract with Wolves, which will make it difficult for Manchester United to see through a transfer. However, if they make a sensational offer that Wolves cannot refuse, the plot could change, although Kilman’s decision would also be key.
