Liverpool are reportedly plotting a fresh move for Fulham starlet Fabio Carvalho, who is also a target for West Ham United.

According to The Sun, Liverpool are mulling over a fresh move for Fabio Carvalho. The Premier League giants have been following the youngster’s progress for quite some time now and are currently weighing up a £5 million bid. The player’s current contract at Craven Cottage expires at the end of the season, but it appears Liverpool are keen on snapping him up in January.

Formerly of the SL Benfica youth academy, Carvalho arrived at Fulham in 2014, at the age of 12. Since then, he has made a solid impression at the club’s youth level, even making his Premier League debut last season. Unfortunately for him, Fulham ended up being relegated from the top-flight, although that has turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the youngster received a full-time promotion to the senior side.

So far this season, Carvalho has made 16 appearances in the Championship, scoring seven goals. He has also notched up four assists, helping Fulham emerge as the undisputed favourites to seal a direct promotion back to the top-flight. However, with his contract expiring in the summer, the youngster’s spell at Craven Cottage could soon come to an end.

The Portugal-born Englishman was linked with a slew of Premier League earlier in the season. He could finally be on the move this January, with Liverpool among the clubs interested in securing his services.

The Reds are in the market for a new striker this month as they brace themselves for life without Divock Origi. The Belgian international has been linked with a January move to Burnley, and his potential exit could leave Jurgen Klopp devoid of a reliable alternative for Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota in the number nine position.

Liverpool had targeted Arnaut Danjuma earlier this month, but their approach was knocked back by Villarreal, who have no intention of offloading their star player in the middle of a season. It has compelled Klopp to look for other options in the market, with Carvalho emerging as an ideal option.

However, the Reds are set to face stiff competition from West Ham in the pursuit of the Fulham youngster. Much like Klopp, David Moyes is also on the hunt for a new forward who can compete with Michail Antonio during the second half of the season. With less than two weeks left before the transfer window slams to a shut, it will be interesting to see which club comes out on top in the pursuit of the 19-year-old forward.
