Crystal Palace are reportedly in talks with Juventus over the potential sale of midfield outcast Aaron Ramsey in the January transfer window.

According to Calciomercato, Crystal Palace have emerged as a likely destination for Aaron Ramsey. Juventus are determined to get rid of the 31-year-old Welshman in the ongoing transfer window, with the London club showing keen interest. It appears the two parties are already in talks regarding a potential sale in the near future.

While a permanent sale is preferred, Juventus are even open to a loan deal in order to facilitate the departure of Ramsey. The midfielder is not included in Massimiliano Allegri’s first-team plans and is now prepared to return to the Premier League.

Formerly of Arsenal, Ramsey moved to Juventus in 2019 on a free transfer. It has proven to be a disastrous decision as the player has struggled to settle into Serie A football. He has failed to live up to the expectations, falling behind the likes of Adrien Rabiot and Weston McKennie in the pecking order, while injuries have not been kind either.

In his two-and-a-half-year spell at Juventus, the 31-year-old has scored only six goals in 70 competitive appearances. This season, he has been able to feature in only three league games, failing even to muster 100 minutes of Serie A football.

Ramsey’s struggles have led to speculations over his long-term future at Juventus. Aston Villa, for one, have been one of the many Premier League clubs to have shown interest in the Welshman. But with the Villans recently completing the deal to sign Philippe Coutinho, a move to Villa Park can be safely ruled out for Ramsey.

It has offered the opportunity for Crystal Palace to eye an exquisite January deal for Ramsey. The Londoners are in the market for creative reinforcement, and the Juventus star, to that end, could prove to be an ideal option.

However, the Eagles are set to face stiff competition from other clubs in the pursuit of Ramsey. Newcastle United and Sevilla were both interested in the 31-year-old Juventus midfielder earlier in the season, while a return to the Emirates cannot be ruled out either. Hence, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Welshman in the coming week.
