Manchester United and Newcastle United can reportedly sign Barcelona ace Ousmane Dembele for just €20 million in January.

According to Sport, FC Barcelona are prepared to cash in on Ousmane Dembele in January. The Catalan giants have tried their hand at renewing the contract of the Frenchman before it expires at the end of the season. However, the player’s hefty demands have put off Barcelona, who are prepared to offload him this month for a fee of around €20 million.

Barcelona have offered two Premier League clubs the opportunity to sign Dembele – Manchester United and Newcastle United. They are aware of Manchester United’s long-standing interest in the player, with the Red Devils previously attempting to lure him to Old Trafford about a year ago.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will be all too keen on signing Dembele this month, given their eye-catching summer acquisitions of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo. One of their star players in Anthony Martial has been linked with a January move to Barcelona, but Dembele’s hefty wage demands might just put off Ralf Rangnick and the new management team.

A more logical destination for the French ace, therefore, could be Newcastle United. After being taken over by a Saudi Arabia-backed consortium, the Magpies are prepared to splash the cash in the market in an attempt to stave off relegation this season. They are certainly in a position to afford the Barcelona contract rebel’s wages, in addition to the €20 million transfer fee.

The Toon have already brought in two fresh faces in the form of Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood this month. Newcastle are looking for another forward, and that is where Ousmane Dembele could prove to be an excellent option.

The Barcelona ace can team up with compatriot Allan Saint-Maximin to further spice up Newcastle’s creative department. Additional support from Trippier should make the Tyneside outfit one of the strongest teams in the bottom half of the Premier League.

However, Newcastle United’s current position in the league table could prove to be an obstacle in their pursuit of Dembele. The winger will be well aware of the prospect of relegation and might prefer a move to a bigger club.

Paris Saint-Germain have also linked with a move for the ex-Borussia Dortmund starlet. But Les Parisiens are only keen on signing the winger on a pre-contract agreement, although they could be swayed into an early January move, should someone like Mauro Icardi or Georginio Wijnaldum leave the club this month.
