Manchester City are reportedly preparing a fresh move for Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane as Pep Guardiola grows desperate for a new striker.

According to Fichajes, Manchester City have once again entered the market for Harry Kane. Despite his recent success under Antonio Conte, the Tottenham Hotspur forward is destined to leave the club at the end of the season. Pep Guardiola is already weighing up a fresh move for Kane, who has been identified as the ideal alternative for Erling Haaland.

Kane was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City in the summer. After a narrow loss to Italy at UEFA Euro 2020, the striker was keen on quitting Tottenham in order to move towards a bigger club in the hopes of winning silverware. Manchester City were well-placed to wrap up a deal, but the move fell through just a week before the transfer window slammed shut.

The England captain later revealed in a statement that he decided to spend another season at Tottenham. The Tottenham attacker, though, endured a difficult start to life under Nuno Espirito Santo, scoring just one goal in nine league appearances. His fortunes did not change immediately under Conte either, until recently.

In the last four Premier League matches, Kane has scored three goals, playing a vital role behind Tottenham’s improved form in the league. His performances have not gone unnoticed either, with Manchester City once again looking into the possibility of signing the striker in the summer.

Having lost Sergio Aguero last summer, Manchester City have been in the market for a new striker for quite some time now. Their search has been accelerated by the recent sale of Ferran Torres to Barcelona, leaving Pep Guardiola devoid of options in the goalscoring department.

The Citizens have been linked with a swoop for Joao Felix of Atletico Madrid. However, it will be hard to pass upon the opportunity of signing an accomplished attacker like Kane, whose track record of 170 goals in 262 Premier League matches makes him one of the best strikers to have ever graced the English top-flight.

That said, it could only make the job a bit more difficult for Manchester City as Tottenham are once again likely to demand a fortune for the services of their star striker. Kane’s current contract at the club expires in 2024, so it won’t be surprising to see the English champions being asked to cross the €100 million mark to sign the Englishman next summer.
