Barcelona will reportedly face competition from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Juventus star Paulo Dybala next summer.

According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester United and Tottenham are considering a move for Juventus and Argentina forward Paulo Dybala, who is also a transfer target for Barcelona.

Dybala has been with Juventus since 2015, when he signed from Palermo. The 28-year-old enjoyed immense success early in his tenure in Turin. But the past couple of seasons were difficult for him as he was often in and out of the side under previous coaches Maurizio Sarri and Andrea Pirlo.

However, the return of Massimiliano Allegri at the helm, coupled with Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure, has allowed Dybala to regain prominence at the Allianz Stadium. And the Argentine has delivered for the team, banging in nine goals and four assists from 20 matches in all competitions.

Despite becoming an important figure at the club again, Dybala’s future in Turin remains uncertain as his contract runs out at the end of the season. Talks over an extension have been ongoing for a while, but it seems like the two parties have been unable to strike an agreement. It has led to clubs across Europe queuing up to sign him on a free transfer in the summer.

Barcelona have held an interest in Dybala for quite some time now but have not attempted to land him in the past. But that could change this year as he would be available on a Bosman deal, which would suit them considering their financial plight. Furthermore, the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Memphis Depay and Martin Braithwaite are expected to leave Camp Nou at the end of the season.

So there could be room for more than one attacking signing at the Catalan outfit in the summer, making Dybala a target worth considering. However, they will now have to stave off competition from Premier League giants Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, who are keen on capturing the 28-year-old Argentine.

Manchester United will need at least one new face in attack as Edinson Cavani’s contract runs out at the end of the season, while Anthony Martial is expected to leave Old Trafford as well, either in January or in the summer. With Marcus Rashford’s form declining sharply and Cristiano Ronaldo set to turn 37 in a couple of weeks, signing a quality forward will certainly be on the agenda, with Dybala emerging as an option.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, they are another club that have a long-standing interest in the Juventus forward. Indeed, the Lilywhites came close to signing Dybala in 2019, only for a deal to collapse due to some third-party image rights issues. However, they have now rekindled their interest in the Argentine international, with manager Antonio Conte keen to add him to his attacking unit for next season.

Apart from the three clubs, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also believed to be monitoring Dybala’s contract situation in Turin. It remains to be seen if he agrees on an extension with Juventus or decides to test himself at a different club come summer.
