Real Madrid will reportedly demand €55 million to sell 19-year-old French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga amid interest from Liverpool.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Eduardo Camavinga is considering his future at Real Madrid and might be open to joining Liverpool. The Spanish giants will demand around €55 million to part with the 19-year-old midfielder.

Eduardo Camavinga had the world at his feet after becoming a pivotal figure for Stade Rennais despite still being in his teens. The Frenchman even made his international debut aged just 17 and was unsurprisingly courted by some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Liverpool, Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Real Madrid eventually won the race to sign the 19-year-old, although he is not entirely happy with his situation at the club. The youngster has started only seven of the 26 games played by Real Madrid since his arrival and has concerns about his place in the squad. Camavinga’s situation has not gone unnoticed, with Liverpool considering signing him.

The Reds hold a long-standing interest in Camavinga, having been in his pursuit before he joined Real Madrid. Liverpool’s continued eagerness to sign the teenage prodigy could be stemming from the advancing average age of the midfield unit at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal.

Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and James Milner are all on the wrong side of 30, with Milner in the twilight of his career. While Harvey Elliott has been impressive since his promotion to the first-team squad as a full-time midfielder, Liverpool might need to invest in a midfielder to pave a smooth succession plan for Milner and Henderson in particular.

Camavinga has thus emerged as a viable target for Liverpool, with the 19-year-old also weighing up the option of joining the Merseyside club. But the French midfielder will not come cheap, as Real Madrid will demand around €55 million if they are forced to part with him this year.

Paying €55 million could well be beyond Liverpool’s means, considering they are reportedly refusing to match Mohamed Salah’s wage demands. But this could be a blessing in disguise for Camavinga, as even though he is unsettled at Real Madrid, he will likely become a regular soon, as Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are approaching the end of their glittering careers.
