Manchester United have been reportedly offered the chance to sign David Ospina as their second choice goalkeeper, with the Colombian set to leave Napoli.

According to Area Napoli, David Ospina could become an option for Manchester United after the Colombian keeper was touted as a possible replacement for Dean Henderson.

There could be significant movement on the goalkeeping front at Manchester United as the club could be on the lookout for a replacement keeper as their second choice. Despite signing Tom Heaton in the summer, the former Burnley star is still considered the third choice at best.

With the future of Dean Henderson in major doubt, the Manchester United second choice could probably leave the club in search of regular playing time. He eyes a place in this year’s World Cup squad with England, which may not be possible with his current predicament.

If he does leave, which is seemingly evolving into a possibility, the club may have to search for a reliable second choice keeper in this market. David Ospina has emerged as a potential option for the Red Devils as the Colombian has been offered in a bargain move this month.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Napoli may not expect to get too much value out of him in the current market. However, despite the ‘keeper being an important player during his tenure in Naples, the Italian side have made no concrete efforts to extend his contract.

Ospina has offers from the Middle East, although their salary package has not been considerable enough for the Colombian to consider. He has shown the desire to join Real Madrid lately, after interest from the Spanish giants., but even at Santiago Bernabeu, he will have to play behind Thibaut Courtois.

If Manchester United respond to being offered the keeper, Ospina might consider the proposal of going back to the Premier League, where he spent several seasons with Arsenal. However, a move will depend on the departure of Henderson, who has attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Providing Henderson does leave the club in January, he could be a solid option for the Red Devils, considering his experience at the highest level. He is also likely to receive a far more lucrative deal at Old Trafford, which could be essential as the player enters the final phase of his career.
