Napoli are interested in taking Tanguy Ndombele on loan from Tottenham in January as the Frenchman remains unpopular in North London.

According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, Napoli are interested in bringing Tanguy Ndombele on loan, as Spurs are reportedly open to offloading him in this January transfer window.

In Tottenham’s FA Cup third-round victory over Morecambe, the team thoroughly struggled to break down the lower division side. Despite winning with a comfortable scoreline, in the end, there were plenty of talking points generated in the match, including the massive booing of Ndombele from his fans.

The Frenchman was widely booed off the ground as he walked away after being substituted with Tottenham still trailing. That incident was considered the biggest indication of the club trying to offload Ndombele and could do so in this window.

Spurs have been looking at new players themselves, and Antonio Conte could consider the midfielder a major part of any exchange deals the north London side could broker. There have been whispers about including the Frenchman in a deal for Roma duo Nicolo Zaniolo or Lorenzo Pellegrini, with the Italians are also interested in the midfielder.

Considering the finances, including fees and the player’s supposed high wages, most clubs around Italy or Europe could find it hard to stump up this month. Spurs are aware of the issue and could sanction a loan deal with an obligation to redemption in the summer.

Barcelona were also supposedly in the race earlier. However, considering their problems and struggles faced recently, even to register new signing Ferran Torres, it is safe to rule them out of the running. Napoli are the latest club to show interest as Luciano Spalletti remains keen on strengthening his squad options.

Ndombele is certainly a talented midfielder, with many clubs reportedly keen to lure him away from Spurs. Napoli could certainly be an option for the Frenchman if a firm offer arrives. The former Lyon star may not want to keep moving clubs around and look for a more settled option.

If he could perform well in Naples for the duration of the campaign, they could sign him permanently and certainly, his skillset suits Serie A more than the Premier League. A loan move with a decent fee and covering Ndombele’s wages could be enough to convince Spurs to let him leave.

Conte is already looking at alternatives such as Inter Milan outcast Stefano Sensi among others, to come in this window. As for Ndombele, a move away from the club could be the best solution to continue developing, with Napoli seemingly emerging as the likely destination for the struggling Frenchman.
