Tottenham are reportedly prepared to offer £18 million for Adama Traore, as Antonio Conte continues to target the Spanish international this month.

According to Daily Mail, Tottenham are prepared to make a new offer to Wolves for Spanish winger Adama Traore in the coming days. The bid could be around £18 million, which might be less than what the Midlands club would have anticipated, with Antonio Conte viewing the Spanish international as his primary target.

Tottenham do not really need a winger in the current transfer window, which creates the question as to why they are chasing Adama Traore so relentlessly. That is because Antonio Conte has a way of playing with his team and places emphasis on the roles of wing-backs, something he currently lacks in quality at Spurs.

Conte wants a player who can be successfully converted into a wing-back, just as he had done with Victor Moses at Chelsea, and feels Traore could be his ideal target. Current options such as Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal have not been convincing enough, forcing the Italian manager to target a player who understands the position and his needs better.

Traore has been facing uncertain times with Wolves for some time, especially since the summer when his intentions to leave the club became clear. The Spaniard refused to sign an extension offered by the club, which opened the door for a move away from the Molineux. Tottenham had been interested in the summer but could not agree on a reasonable fee with the Midlands club.

Under Bruno Lage, Traore has mostly been used as an impact substitute, with the Wolves manager preferring to play other players from the start. The Spanish international did have a good, impactful game against Manchester United recently, but he will not be happy with the current role entrusted to him.

While Tottenham have been getting creative with their offer to Wolves, the Black Country outfit will be seeking a cash deal for Traore. To that end, Spurs are reportedly prepared to make an £18 million offer in the coming days.

Traore is open to moving to north London, although he is also reportedly keen on rejoining Barcelona if the Catalans come calling. However, with Xavi not as keen on signing the Spanish international, a move to Tottenham might be the only viable alternative in current circumstances.

West Ham also have registered an interest in him, but David Moyes may focus on signing a centre-back rather than a winger in this market. As things stand, it is unclear whether Wolves will be open to accepting an £18 million offer and might look for more from Tottenham. However, Conte’s interest in the Spaniard is clear as Tottenham look intent to sign him one way or another this month.
