Watford have reportedly been handed the opportunity to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s defensive outcast Layvin Kurzawa.

According to a recent report from Foot Mercato, Layvin Kurzawa could be set for a move away from Parc des Princes. Paris Saint-Germain are looking to offload the 29-year-old defender as part of a downsizing operation that could see multiple players leave the club. Kurzawa is among the favourites to depart, with the player himself keen on reviving his career elsewhere.

The left-back has attracted interest from Napoli among many other clubs in Europe, even including Barcelona. However, it appears the Frenchman’s agents have offered him to Premier League outfit Watford.

Kurzawa is aware of Claudio Ranieri’s search for defensive reinforcements in January. The Italian is desperately looking to shore up his options at the back after a poor start to the campaign. Although signing a new centre-back remains a priority, the Hornets have been notably linked with a move for Sead Kolasinac as a potential alternative to Adam Masina and Danny Rose at left-back, despite signing Hassane Kamara.

In Kurzawa, Ranieri could find himself a more dynamic option who has a proven track record of performing in Ligue 1. With 169 Ligue 1 appearances to his name, the left-back is no stranger when it comes to experience at the highest level of football.

The 29-year-old can be versatile as well, as he is capable of operating as an out and out winger or even as a centre-back if required. His superior offensive qualities should make him an interesting alternative to Kolasinac, even though Kurzawa has not had much joy in recent years.

At PSG this season, Kurzawa has fallen behind Abdou Diallo, Nuno Mendes and Juan Bernat in the pecking order. It has restricted his game-time to just nine minutes in all competitions, although the defender did have to wrestle with an adductor injury and illness that kept him out for almost six weeks.

A move away from Parc des Princes is the most logical option for the former AS Monaco star, with Watford emerging as one of the potential destinations. But he is not the only PSG defender linked with an exit. Fellow Frenchman Colin Dagba has recently become a target for Arsenal, with Premier League sides seemingly keen on taking advantage of the Ligue 1 giants’ massive defensive overhaul.
