Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona forward Ferran Jutgla this month and are willing to pay €10 million for his services.

According to a report from El Nacional, Leeds United are willing to shell out a sum of €10 million for Barcelona forward Ferran Jutgla in the ongoing transfer window.

Jutgla signed for Barcelona only last summer, joining on a free transfer from local rivals Espanyol. The 22-year-old was brought in to strengthen the B team, which he did, bagging four goals and four assists in 15 matches. He got a shot at first-team football for the Maradona Cup clash against Boca Juniors in Saudi Arabia, during which he found the back of the net.

Xavi Hernandez has since used him regularly in the senior team, and the young forward, who can play anywhere across the frontline, has delivered. Jutgla has scored twice in five games, including the match-winning strike in the Copa del Rey clash against Linares Deportivo earlier this week.

Despite all the positivity he has generated, Jutgla could be relegated to bench-warming duties once Barcelona recover the likes of Ansu Fati and Martin Braithwaite from injuries and register new signing Ferran Torres. Furthermore, club president Joan Laporta intends to add another centre-forward to the ranks before the transfer window closes.

All these factors, coupled with the fact that his contract with the Blaugrana is set to expire at the end of the season, could lead to doubts over his future at Camp Nou. And Leeds United are ready to pounce for his signing.

Leeds United are looking to add another striker to their roster, having suffered in the injury-enforced absence of key frontman Patrick Bamford. Joe Gelhardt has shown great potential but is not a polished operator yet, while the likes of Daniel James, Tyler Roberts and Rodrigo Moreno have not been delivering the goods consistently in front of goal.

So it makes sense for the Yorkshire-based outfit to bring in another forward who can add another source of goals as Marcelo Bielsa’s side look to put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone. To that end, Jutgla has emerged as an option, with Leeds United even ready to fork out €10 million to secure his signing from Barcelona.

Any move, however, would hinge on what Barcelona plan to do with Jutgla in the coming weeks. If he is relegated back to the B team, the 22-year-old could consider a switch to the Premier League.
