Merseyside giants Everton have reportedly been offered the chance to sign 33-year-old Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez from Serie A club Inter Milan.

According to an exclusive report by The Sun, Alexis Sanchez has been offered to Everton in a free transfer in the ongoing transfer window. Serie A champions Inter Milan are supposedly prepared to cancel the 33-year-old’s contract, with the Toffees considering signing him if they are forced to lose Richarlison or Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Alexis Sanchez has previously had a mixed bag of a stint in the Premier League, having been a pivotal figure for three-and-a-half years at Arsenal before enduring a disastrous spell at Manchester United. Once regarded as one of the best attackers in the game, the Chilean international had a decent campaign on loan at Inter Milan in the 2019/20 season.

But since joining the Nerazzurri permanently in September 2020, the 33-year-old has been sub-par. After being used sparingly in Inter’s triumphant 2020/21 Serie A campaign, Sanchez has become a bit-part player this season. The veteran still has a decent output of three goals and three assists in 455 minutes of game-time this term, but Inter Milan would like to offload him as soon as possible.

Sanchez’s next destination could be Everton, who have been handed the opportunity to sign him in the ongoing transfer window. The report seems to suggest that the Serie A champions will be willing to cancel his contract, as the Chilean forward has been offered to Everton in a free transfer.

The Toffees are seriously considering signing Sanchez amid uncertainties surrounding the futures of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison. While Calvert-Lewin has been linked with Arsenal, Richarlison is a target for Paris Saint-Germain.

The Brazilian is the likelier of the two strikers to leave Everton, who could be forced into the market for a replacement, especially considering Salomon Rondon has been a dud since his arrival last summer. Sanchez could be a viable target to that end, but his recent struggles suggest he might not deliver the goods consistently.

The Merseyside giants have previously been linked with the 33-year-old, but pursuing some other forward like Dejan Kulusevski could be a step in the right direction. The young Juventus forward has recently been linked with Everton, but the 21-year-old might not arrive at Goodison Park this month with Sanchez being seriously considered.
