Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is keen to end his time at Arsenal and remains open to the idea of joining Newcastle United this month.

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is open to joining Newcastle United in the current transfer window, as he looks for a way out of Arsenal after recent events.

Arsenal seem to have made up their mind regarding their former captain and highest earner, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The striker, currently away on AFCON duty with Gabon, may not return to the club if things fall into place over a potential transfer in the ongoing window.

After being axed from club captaincy, Mikel Arteta has not picked Aubameyang in his sides for subsequent fixtures in the Premier League and Carabao Cup of late. With the Gunners having done remarkably well in his absence, the chances of the ex-Borussia Dortmund star leaving the club have grown exponentially over the past few days.

Newcastle United were reportedly in contact with his entourage in the days leading to January, and now they may step up their interest in the striker. After Eddie Howe initially ruled out bringing in a forward in January, the injury to Callum Wilson may have changed their strategy, and fortunately for them, Aubameyang could be available.

Rudy Galetti has reported that Aubameyang might be open to joining Newcastle United. The Magpies are in contact with Arsenal and have supposedly proposed an initial loan offer with an option to buy the striker at the end of the campaign.

The cash-rich Magpies have already agreed on a deal to sign Kieran Trippier and are also on the hunt for players in several other key positions. They find themselves in a tough relegation battle, sitting 19th in the Premier League table. There is a growing belief that they could survive if the right players are signed in the window.

Arsenal have already stepped up their search for a replacement as they have already made an improved offer for Dusan Vlahovic, which Fiorentina are thinking of accepting if reports are accurate. However, as for Aubameyang, there seems to be no future for the striker at the Emirates, as Arteta has seemingly neglected the idea of bringing him back into the fold.

Newcastle can also match Aubameyang’s massive wages, which further stacks the odds in their favours. It remains to be seen if this transfer materialises and the Gabon star gets out of his Emirates nightmare.
