Granada and several other La Liga clubs are reportedly keen on signing Miguel Gutierrez on loan from Real Madrid this month.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Miguel Gutierrez has emerged on the radar of several La Liga clubs over a loan deal in the January transfer window. However, the 20-year-old is yet to take a call on where he will play in the second half of the season and is not ruling out staying at Real Madrid.

Miguel Gutierrez joined Real Madrid from Getafe as a ten-year-old in 2011 and has since made significant progress at the club. The young Spaniard made his first-team breakthrough in the back end of the 2020/21 season after impressing in the age-division teams and Real Madrid Castilla.

The 20-year-old has since turned out nine further times for Real Madrid, although only four of those appearances have come this season. Gutierrez has instead been relegated to the Castilla side, for the most part, especially following Ferland Mendy’s return from a long injury layoff. Such a situation has captured the attention of Granada.

Granada and Real Madrid share a healthy relationship, with the Nazaries signing Jesus Vallejo and Alberto Soro from Los Blancos in recent years. The Andalusian club has now set sights on Gutierrez, although the interest in the young Real Madrid defender comes as a surprise.

Granada signed Sergio Escudero from Sevilla last summer, while Carlos Neva has been a consistent performer for the most part for them. With neither player showing any major weaknesses in his game, the Nazaries do not seem to have any need of signing a left-back.

Nonetheless, it looks like Real Madrid could sanction a January loan deal to Granada, even as other La Liga clubs like Cadiz, Espanyol and Levante show an interest in him. But the transfer is not set in stone as Gutierrez is not entirely convinced by the prospect of joining Granada.

The 20-year-old could still choose to stay put at Real Madrid and spend most of the second half of the season playing for the Castilla side. However, with Real Madrid interested in Alex Sandro, the young Spanish defender might not have a bright future at the Santiago Bernabeu.
