Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and West Ham United are set to go up against one another in their pursuit of Everton star Lucas Digne.

According to Transfermarktweb, Everton star Lucas Digne is drawing constant interest from the English capital, with Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and West Ham United all keen on his services.

The Toffees star is an experienced Premier League player and can be considered amongst the best left-backs in the English top flight. He moved to Goodison Park from Barcelona in 2018. Digne has since made 127 appearances for the Merseysiders, scoring six goals and assisting 20 more.

He has, however, fallen out of favour with Rafael Benitez and was left out of the club’s matchday squad for five of the last six top-flight games. Digne was named among the substitutes against Brighton last weekend, but he was not utilized on the day and spent the game warming the benches.

Digne’s current deal with Everton tuns until 2025. However, Benitez’s appraisal of him makes it likely that the Frenchman has played his final game for the club. He is not short of options as several clubs both within England and abroad are keen on his services.

European champions Chelsea are one of the prime names in the running and are in desperate need of a new left-back. The Blues lost Ben Chilwell to an ACL injury, and the English international will now miss the remainder of the season. Marcos Alonso is an option, but the Spaniard is not a reliable player and has often looked out of sorts.

Adding a player of Digne’s ability will give Thomas Tuchel a proven star to call upon in a key position in the first XI. He will, however, have to face competition from David Moyes, who could also do with a dependable option at left-back.

The Hammers are enjoying a good season and are challenging for a top-four spot. One weakness the Irons have in their squad is at left-back, with Aaron Cresswell struggling with fitness problems. Arthur Masuaku and Ben Johnson have failed to take their chances, and Digne certainly represents an upgrade over either player.

Another London side, Tottenham, are also keen on the player. The Lilywhites already have the impressive Sergio Reguilon in their ranks, and it remains to be seen if they will make a concentrated effort to land Digne. What the 28-year-old’s potential arrival means for the promising Ryan Sessegnon remains to be seen.

While Chelsea are the pick of the clubs from the capital, Digne would do well to think twice before moving to Stamford Bridge. Ben Chilwell will return to action later in the summer, and that could lead to Digne having to serve as the Englishman’s understudy. He has a better shot at West Ham.

The Hammers are beginning to establish themselves as a resurgent side. Adding the right reinforcements in January will certainly aid their progress. Apart from the trio mentioned above, Napoli, Inter Milan and Newcastle United are also interested in the player. Digne certainly is not short of options. It now remains to be seen where he ends up before the January window slams shut.
