Real Madrid reportedly consider 24-year-old Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus as a long-term successor for Toni Kroos.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Florian Neuhaus is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in a future transfer window. The 24-year-old Borussia Monchengladbach is seen as a potential long-term successor for Toni Kroos.

Florian Neuhaus joined Borussia Monchengladbach from 1860 Munich in July 2017 and has since come leaps and bounds. And after returning to the Bundesliga club from a loan spell with Fortuna Dusseldorf in 2018, the German international has become a regular feature for club and country.

To date, Neuhaus has made 130 appearances for Gladbach, chipping in with 19 goals and 20 assists in the process. The 24-year-old’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, with some of the biggest clubs, including Real Madrid, setting their sights on him.

The German midfielder has been on Real Madrid’s radar for months, and he was even considered for a summer move. The continued interest in Neuhaus makes a world of sense, as Toni Kroos is approaching the final phase of his glittering career.

In fact, according to Defensa Central, the 24-year-old is viewed as his compatriot’s successor, with Gabriel Menino and Lovro Majer considered long-term replacements for Casemiro and Luka Modric, respectively. However, the eagerness to sign all three players is surprising, as Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde are widely viewed as long-term solutions in the middle of the park for Real Madrid.

Nonetheless, it looks like the Merengues will be closely monitoring the progress of Neuhaus, Gabriel Menino and Lovro Majer for the foreseeable future with a view to a future move. With Dani Ceballos and Isco facing uncertain futures at the Santiago Bernabeu, the prospect of having a long-term midfield core consisting of Valverde, Camavinga, Menino, Majer, and Neuhaus will be enticing.

For now, the 24-year-old Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder is being tracked by Los Blancos over the prospect of a future move. It remains to be seen if Real Madrid will approach the Bundesliga club anytime soon with a formal offer or if Neuhaus remains on their radar for a longer period.
