Barcelona are reportedly keen on securing the services of French defender Layvin Kurzawa, valued at €8 million by Paris Saint-Germain.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Layvin Kurzawa is the subject of interest from Barcelona over a possible move in the January transfer window. The French defender is valued at around €8 million by Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Layvin Kurzawa joined Paris Saint-Germain from AS Monaco in August 2015 and has since endured a topsy-turvy ride at Parc des Princes. However, in recent years, the 29-year-old has been a backup option for Les Parisiens, with the player falling behind Juan Bernat and Nuno Mendes in the pecking order for left-backs.

Things have gone from bad to worse for Kurzawa this term, as he has only managed nine minutes of game-time for the Ligue 1 giants in one outing thus far. And PSG would not mind cashing in on the French defender if a bid came their way. Such a situation has captured the attention of Barcelona.

The Catalan giants are reportedly in the market for a left-back heading into next summer’s transfer window. That is because Jordi Alba has endured a sharp decline in the last few years and could be offloaded by Barcelona as part of their impending squad overhaul. The veteran defender has also recently been linked with PSG.

With Alejandro Balde yet to completely settle into the environs of the first-team squad since being promoted at the onset of the ongoing campaign, Barcelona will need to invest in a left-back. To that end, Jose Gaya has reportedly emerged as a priority target for Barcelona, with the Spanish defender open to joining them.

However, Gaya is unlikely to join Barcelona midway through the season if they look to sign a left-back in January. As a result, Kurzawa has emerged as a viable target for the Blaugrana, who will not need to pay too much to secure his services, as PSG will be demanding around €8 million in exchange for his services.

However, the interest stems from Joan Laporta, whereas Xavi Hernandez is keen on bringing Lucas Digne back to Camp Nou. So, it remains to be seen if Barcelona will be engaging in an €8 million deal with PSG or decide to sign Digne instead. All said and done, Kurzawa’s time at the Ligue 1 club is drawing to a close.
