Reinier Jesus could return to Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window before embarking on a loan spell to La Liga rivals Sevilla.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Reinier Jesus is the subject of interest from Sevilla over a possible loan move in the January transfer window. The Brazilian prospect could return to Real Madrid from his stint with Borussia Dortmund before being sent out on a temporary spell again this winter.

Reinier Jesus joined Real Madrid from Flamengo in January 2020 and was initially assigned to the Castilla side. Having arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu amid comparisons made with Brazilian legend Kaka, expectations were naturally high from the teenage prodigy.

However, the 19-year-old is yet to justify the hype surrounding him, with his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund proving to be a dud. Reinier joined the Bundesliga giants from Real Madrid on a two-year loan deal in August 2020 but has managed only 614 minutes of game-time across 30 outings, amassing one goal and one assist in the process.

With things going from bad to worse for Reinier at Dortmund, he desperately needs a new lease of life at another club. The chances are unlikely to be forthcoming at Real Madrid, with Carlo Ancelotti having a loaded squad at his disposal in the ongoing campaign. However, Sevilla could offer the young prospect an escape route out of his miseries.

The interest from Sevilla is surprising, though, considering Reinier has not provided an indication of the value he brings to a team. However, with Suso and Erik Lamela out with long-term injuries that will keep them sidelined until the final month of the season, the Andalusian club could do with an offensive addition.

To that end, the La Liga heavyweights have recently been heavily linked with several attackers, including Anthony Martial, Bryan Gil and Real Madrid ace Marco Asensio. However, in Reinier, Sevilla could take a major risk, as he has yet to produce a major game-changing performance since arriving in Europe.

Nonetheless, it looks like Sevilla could approach Real Madrid over a possible loan deal for the remainder of the season. Apart from Los Nervionenses, Reinier Jesus has also been linked with Newcastle United, but it remains to be seen if Real Madrid will deal with their La Liga rivals instead.
