Manchester United and Newcastle United are among the clubs interested in the services of Boubacar Kamara.

According to Calciomercato, AC Milan are keeping a close eye on Boubacar Kamara. The midfielder’s contract at Marseille expires at the end of the season, and it appears the player has no intention of renewing his deal. Milan are hoping to snap him up on a cut-price deal in January, although they are set to face stiff competition from Premier League duo Manchester United and Newcastle United.

Both the clubs were linked with a move for Kamara even in the summer transfer window, but the youngster opted to remain at Marseille in order to further his growth as a midfielder.

It was a wise decision as the young Frenchman has since emerged as one of the most gifted players in Ligue 1. With 15 league appearances, Kamara has been an ever-present figure at the base of OM’s midfield, helping the club emerge as one of the best-performing teams in the country this season.

Despite the age of just 22, the local talent has already notched up almost 150 competitive appearances for his hometown club. And it appears his performances have not gone unnoticed with Newcastle, for one, prepared to re-enter the market for the youngster in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Magpies are in search of promising midfielders that can help Eddie Howe strengthen the support staff around Jonjo Shelvey. Incidentally, they are reportedly involved in the pursuit of the 22-year-old’s namesake from Finland in Glen Kamara, whereas Howe is also eyeing a reunion with Philip Billing of Bournemouth.

The interest from Manchester United makes sense, considering the club’s imminent need for a holding midfielder that can emerge as a long-term successor of the ageing Nemanja Matic. The Serb has been linked with a move to Newcastle lately, and it is only a matter of time before Ralf Rangnick sanctions the exit.

The addition of someone like Boubacar Kamara, to that end, could prove to be very useful for the Red Devils. The Frenchman has the potential to become an upgrade over both Fred and Scott McTominay, while he also provides unmatched tactical versatility.

Recent reports even suggest Manchester United are in advanced talks with Kamara regarding a move to Old Trafford. But with Newcastle and AC Milan also involved, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in the race to sign the Marseille youngster.
