Chelsea are prepared to cash in on Christian Pulisic in the upcoming January transfer window after he failed to impress Thomas Tuchel.

A recent report from Fichajes has dropped a bombshell regarding Christian Pulisic. It appears Chelsea are finally ready to cash in on their attacker in the upcoming January transfer window, after a series of underwhelming performances at Stamford Bridge.

The winger has been told to find a new club as soon as possible, with Chelsea keen on recouping most of the €64 million they had spent on the player a few years ago. Pulisic’s current contract at Stamford Bridge expires in 2024, but it won’t be surprising to see the attacker leave the club next month.

Formerly of the Borussia Dortmund youth academy, the US international had initially joined the Blues in early 2019, although he was immediately loaned backed to the Bundesliga giants during the remainder of the 2018/19 campaign.

Pulisic joined the Chelsea camp in the summer of 2019, notching up 25 league appearances in his debut season in England. He was involved in an impressive 15 league goals as the Blues finished inside the top four. However, the winger has never really managed to get going since, especially after the sacking of Frank Lampard.

Since the start of last season, the Hershey native has scored only six goals in the league. While his form has been an issue, injuries haven’t been kind on him either, with a recent ankle issue keeping him out for almost two months. As a result, Pulisic has fallen behind the likes of Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Callum Hudson-Odoi and even Timo Werner in the pecking order.

Chelsea’s decision to cash in on the American international in January, therefore, is hardly a surprise. It is apparent Tuchel wants to move on from the 23-year-old, having already targeted Mohamed-Ali Cho, among many other exciting talents across Europe this season.

Pulisic, on his part, has no shortage of suitors either, with Barcelona, in particular, reportedly keen on signing the forward on a loan deal in January. The Catalans are set to face competition from Newcastle United in the pursuit of the former Dortmund starlet, but the player is more than likely to prefer Camp Nou given NUFC’s position in the league table.

However, there are recent reports suggesting Barcelona have already found their man in Ferran Torres. The Man City starlet could soon complete his move in a deal worth €55 million. His potential addition to the side could certainly affect Barca’s plans for Pulisic, so it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the American international in the upcoming January transfer window.
