West Ham United have reportedly entered the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain outcast Layvin Kurzawa, who is also a target for Lazio and Napoli.

According to a report from Foot Mercato, West Ham United have shown an interest in securing the services of Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa in the upcoming January transfer window.

Kurzawa has been with PSG since 2015 when he arrived from Ligue 1 rivals AS Monaco. Never really a regular in the starting XI, the 29-year-old has managed 153 appearances for the club in over six years, producing a return of 14 goals and 23 assists.

Kurzawa has been completely out of favour under Mauricio Pochettino this season, making just one appearance. Indeed, the left-back has not been a part of the matchday squad for PSG since early November in all competitions, while he was last named on the bench for a Ligue 1 game way back in August, on the opening day of the season.

Kurzawa has fallen behind Nuno Mendes, Abdou Diallo and Juan Bernat in the pecking order, and Les Parisiens are intent on getting him off the books in January. Crystal Palace were believed to have been offered a chance to sign him recently while there is strong interest from Italian clubs Lazio and Napoli.

West Ham United have also joined the hunt for the Frenchman’s signing as per the report. The Hammers have Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku as options for the left-back slot, while young Ben Johnson has also been used in the position when needed by manager David Moyes.

However, Cresswell has been struggling with a back injury for some time now, while Masuaku’s fitness issues are well-documented. So, it would bode well for the east Londoners to add another experienced player in the position as they look to challenge for a top-four finish while hoping to go the distance in the UEFA Europa League.

To that end, West Ham have now been linked with a move for Kurzawa. The 29-year-old has a contract with PSG until the summer of 2024, but Les Parisiens might be willing to accept a relatively low offer given their desperation to offload him. Whether the Hammers decide to make a swoop for the 13-time capped French international or look elsewhere remains to be seen.

Apart from a new left-back, Moyes & co. are also looking to bring in a new central defender to cope with the injuries to Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma, while a new striker is also on the agenda as West Ham look to add cover and competition for Michail Antonio.
