Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keen on luring Karim Benzema away from Real Madrid and are ready to hand him a bumper contract to do so.

According to a report from El Nacional, Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to make a big contract offer for Real Madrid superstar Karim Benzema as they look to sign him in the summer transfer window.

Benzema has been with Real Madrid for over a decade now and has firmly established himself as one of the finest strikers of the current generation. While he has been an integral part of the team throughout his stint in Spain, the way the Frenchman has stepped up and taken over the mantle of the main man in attack after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure in 2018 has been mesmerising.

Benzema, who turned 34 this past weekend, has plundered 297 goals for Los Blancos while setting up 152 more for his teammates from 581 appearances to date. An undisputed starter in the side when fit and available, the Frenchman’s situation could change next summer as Real Madrid are pushing to sign both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland from PSG and Borussia Dortmund, respectively.

Should the duo arrive, the veteran striker could likely have to become second-fiddle, something which PSG are now hoping to capitalise on. The Parisian giants seem set to lose Mbappe to Real Madrid, having failed to convince him to sign a new contract thus far. And with Mauro Icardi also believed to be on his way, a new striker will be needed at Parc des Princes.

PSG have had their sights on Benzema for quite some time now. Recent reports even claimed that Les Parisiens had already started talks with the Frenchman’s camp over a potential move in the summer. Now, as per the report mentioned above, the French Ligue 1 leaders are ready to hand the 34-year-old a bumper contract to convince him to make the switch.

It is stated that PSG would be willing to hand Benzema a deal worth much more than what he currently pockets at Real Madrid for a duration of two or three years. In addition to that, they are planning to appoint Zinedine Zidane as the next manager of the club and are hoping that his relationship with the Real Madrid superstar will help them lure him to the French capital.

As for Benzema, a chance to return and end his career in his homeland while playing with elite players like Lionel Messi, Neymar under former mentor Zidane could certainly appeal. So, it remains to be seen if the 34-year-old decides to leave Real Madrid in the summer in favour of a return to France.
