Gavi continues to be linked with the biggest of clubs in Europe, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly the latest bigwig to show an interest in the Barcelona prodigy.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Gavi is the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain over a possible move in a future transfer window. The French giants are prepared to offer more than €50 million to snap up the Barcelona prodigy. However, he is eager to stay put at Camp Nou.

Gavi has impressed one and all to no end since being fast-tracked into the Barcelona first-team setup at the onset of the ongoing season. Despite being only 17 years old, the Spanish prodigy has made a mark by showing the kind of maturity that belies his age. At the same time, the teenage prodigy has also broken into the Spanish national side and is already a regular for La Roja.

The young midfielder has made 21 appearances across all competitions for Barcelona this season, chipping in with one goal and three assists in the process. Gavi scored his maiden goal for Barcelona this weekend, as Barcelona beat Elche on Saturday. However, his exploits have been noticed by some of the biggest clubs in Europe, with Paris Saint-Germain also keen on signing him.

The interest from PSG is understandable, considering Georginio Wijnaldum has struggled to impress since arriving from Liverpool in the summer. In addition, Idrissa Gueye and Ander Herrera are on the wrong side of 30, with Herrera also linked with Barcelona.

To make matters worse, Marco Verratti has been beset by several fitness issues in the last couple of years, with his game-time being restricted considerably. As a result, PSG’s need to bolster their midfield unit has been accentuated, with several midfielders, including Franck Kessie, linked with the club.

To that end, Gavi is also a viable target for PSG, with Les Parisiens ready to launch the offensive for him. According to El Nacional, the French giants are willing to offer more than the €50 million valuation of the release clause in the Spanish prodigy’s Barcelona contract.

However, Gavi intends to stay put at Barcelona and further his career at Camp Nou. For their part, the Catalan heavyweights are also eager to agree on a bumper new contract with the 17-year-old, hoping to secure his long-term future soon. However, PSG’s interest has turned Gavi’s head slightly, and it will be interesting to see if the Ligue 1 leaders can inch closer to signing him.
