Marco Asensio is reportedly open to the idea of joining Serie A giants Juventus but has not taken a final call on leaving Real Madrid.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Marco Asensio has handed Juventus a major boost over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Real Madrid forward is open to joining the Serie A giants but will wait to see if they finish in the top four in the Italian top-flight.

Marco Asensio has been widely regarded as a possible long-term solution for Real Madrid for years. However, since returning from a lengthy layoff due to a knee injury, the Spaniard has blown hot and cold at the Santiago Bernabeu. As a result, his status as a regular has been hampered in the past year.

The 25-year-old has endured a difficult first half of the 2021/22 season but has shown signs of resurgence in recent weeks. The player’s tally for the campaign reads six goals and one assist in 19 outings thus far. However, after struggling to attain regular starting berths, the Spanish international is considering leaving Real Madrid, with Juventus keen on signing him.

The interest from Juventus is understandable, considering there are question marks around the futures of Federico Bernardeschi and Dejan Kulusevski. Both players have been linked with several Premier League clubs across Europe of late.

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City are among the suitors pursuing Bernardeschi and Kulusevski. And with either or both the players set to leave Juventus sooner or later, the Serie A giants will need to bring in an able replacement into the first-team setup.

To that end, Asensio is a viable target for Juventus, with the Real Madrid forward open to joining the Italian club, according to El Nacional. However, the Spaniard will wait till the summer transfer window before taking a call on his Real Madrid future, as he wants to see if his situation improves in the second half of the season.

The 25-year-old also wishes to see where the Bianconeri will end up when the curtains fall on the 2021/22 season. Juventus are currently sixth in the Serie A standings, and finishing in the top four will be critical in attracting Asensio to leave Real Madrid and join them. So, it remains to be seen if Asensio’s Real Madrid stint culminates next summer or if Juventus will be forced to set their sights elsewhere.
