Juventus are reportedly looking at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s situation at Arsenal keenly with a January move in the offing.

According to Tuttosport, Juventus are keen on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the striker endures a difficult time at Arsenal. Massimiliano Allegri wants to sign a goalscorer on priority in the January transfer window, with the Gabonese star on their shortlist.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future at Arsenal has plunged into uncertainty owing to the events of the last few days. Mikel Arteta decided to drop the striker for the game against Southampton due to a disciplinary breach, and he has been ousted for the subsequent two fixtures against West Ham United and Leeds United.

There were suggestions in the media that the striker may not feature with the first team until the conclusion of next month’s Africa Cup of Nations. Aubameyang was stripped of his club captaincy role last Monday, and his future has become the talking point among experts.

Arsenal and Aubameyang renewed ties at the start of last season, with the Gabonese forward signing a contract until the summer of 2023, becoming the highest earner at the club in the process. However, Arteta might now look to offload him, and the recent banishment from first-team action might be an indication of what’s to come.

There have been whispers of a move to Barcelona, with Aubameyang reportedly open to joining them. However, in the days following the emergence of those links, Xavi Hernandez wants a striker of a younger profile, especially after Sergio Aguero decided to retire from football altogether.

Now Juventus are reportedly keen on the Arsenal striker to solve their issues in front of goal. This season, Massimiliano Allegri has adopted a different approach than his usual tactics, emphasising attacking on the counter. The Bianconeri have only mustered 17 goals this term, which is uncharacteristically low for the quality in their squad.

Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata have been burdened to get those goals, and now, Allegri wants a proven goalscorer to ease the pressure and add a new dimension to his side. Aubameyang has certainly proved that he could be that man throughout his career in France, Germany and England.

Now, Juventus would ideally want to bring him on a six-month loan and then take a call on Aubameyang’s long-term future in the summer. Such an idea would certainly appeal to Arsenal, who are reportedly ready to let him go and free up his wages, albeit for six months.

As for Aubameyang, it could be a good move to end the uncertainty around his Arsenal future and get back in form in new surroundings. He may have played in Italy back in the day with AC Milan, but today, he is a different player from that period. It remains to be seen if the former Arsenal captain joins Juventus anytime soon.
