Real Madrid are reportedly in talks with the representatives of Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic over a potential move in the summer of 2022.

According to a report from El Nacional, Real Madrid have begun negotiating with the entourage of Fiorentina superstar Dusan Vlahovic as they assess the possibility of a summer transfer next year.

The 21-year-old Vlahovic arrived at Fiorentina in the summer of 2018 from boyhood club Partizan Belgrade and has gradually developed into one of the most prolific strikers in Serie A currently. He enjoyed a brilliant 2020/21 campaign during which he plundered 21 goals and looks well-positioned to eclipse that tally in the current season.

Indeed, Vlahovic has already netted 17 goals from 19 games in all competitions while he has two assists to his name as well. The striker also has seven goals to his name from 14 appearances for the Serbian national team. His exploits for club and country have led to strong interest from clubs across Europe.

Indeed, Premier League club Newcastle United are believed to have made a staggering €100 million offer for Vlahovic, while Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are all interested. Atletico Madrid had tried to sign him in the summer, and now Real Madrid have the 21-year-old on their agenda for the summer window.

The Spanish capital club are expected to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. But they remain intent on adding another striker in the summer, with Erling Haaland believed to be a name under consideration while Robert Lewandowski is also an option. However, Vlahovic has also emerged as a viable target for Los Blancos.

The report mentions that Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti favours the Fiorentina striker over Haaland. As a result, the club have already initiated discussions with Vlahovic’s agents over a move. Furthermore, it is also claimed that the Merengues plan to use Alvaro Odriozola and Luka Jovic as makeweights to drag the asking price down.

The right-back is currently on loan at Fiorentina, and the Serie A club are believed to be interested in signing him on permanently while they are also keen on signing Jovic, who has failed to establish himself at the Santiago Bernabeu. While using the duo could help Real Madrid in their pursuit of Vlahovic, the competition from clubs like Manchester City could make things difficult.

The 21-year-old, whose contract with the Viola runs out in 2023, is almost certain to leave the club next year. Whether he ends up moving to the Spanish capital remains to be seen.
