Newcastle United have made a staggering €100 million bid for Fiorentina’s attacking sensation Dusan Vlahovic.

According to a recent report from Calciomercato.it, as translated by Sport Witness, Newcastle United are prepared to spend the big bucks in the upcoming January transfer window as the club looks to avoid the wrath of relegation that will hold back their project for at least another year. As such, they have apparently offered a stunning €100 million bid to sign Dusan Vlahovic.

The staggering three-figure bid is expected to turn many heads in the Fiorentina camp, who have so far remained resilient in keeping hold of their star player despite interest from top clubs across Europe, including Tottenham Hotspur.

NUFC’s interest in Vlahovic is unsurprising, as the Fiorentina star has seemingly established himself as one of the most talented young forwards in Europe. Since the start of last season, the tall Serb has netted 36 goals in just 54 matches in Serie A. He has been prolific, particularly in the new season, with his 15 goals in 17 matches helping the Viola push for the European places.

In many ways, Vlahovic can be the ideal man to spearhead the Newcastle United attack, as they look to stave off relegation during the second half of the campaign. Goalscoring has been one of the club’s main problems, with the current pool of strikers simply not being good enough to help the club make a solid comeback in 2022.

But the upcoming January transfer window gives the Magpies the opportunity to make some big investments using the funds available from their new Saudi-backed owners. Newcastle United have already been linked with a move for some of the most established attackers in Europe, including VfL Wolfsburg’s traditional number nine, Wout Weghorst.

In Vlahovic, though, the Tynesiders could land themselves one of the biggest talents in Europe. The club have already made Fiorentina reconsider with their reported €100 million offer, which should be more than good enough to convince the Serie A outfit to offload their star player.

However, the report adds that the fate of this deal may solely rest on the shoulders of Vlahovic. It remains unlikely that the 21-year-old will find Newcastle United an attractive destination due to current league position and the fact that it may take years before they can truly compete with the top dogs of English football.

To that end, the former Partizan prodigy may prefer a move to an established top team like Manchester City, who are reportedly considering a fresh €85 million bid that should test the waters at Fiorentina.
