Real Madrid have reportedly been given the opportunity to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, a target for Manchester City.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Harry Kane prefers joining Real Madrid instead of Manchester City. However, the Spanish giants are unlikely to take up the opportunity to secure the services of the Tottenham Hotspur striker, with Carlo Ancelotti uninterested in bringing the Englishman into his squad.

Harry Kane is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, having gone from strength to strength at Tottenham in the last half a decade. A player who can score goals for fun and set up chances galore when on song, the Englishman has been a pivotal figure for club and country for years.

However, 2021/22 has been a season to forget for the 28-year-old, who is yet to get going at Spurs after failing to secure his desired move to Manchester City in the summer. As a result, Kane has managed only one goal and one assist in 13 Premier League appearances. However, despite his struggles this term, Kane continues to be linked with the bigwigs of Europe, including Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Real Madrid must lay down a succession plan for Karim Benzema despite his exploits in the last few years. The Frenchman is 33 years old and approaching the final phase of his career. So, it behoves Los Blancos to sign a striker who can succeed Benzema in the years to come. To that end, Kane is a viable target for Real Madrid.

However, the Spanish giants are prioritising a move for Erling Haaland, meaning Kane might be a backup option at best. On the other hand, the interest from Manchester City has not waned since they failed to secure the services of the England captain in the summer transfer window.

Pep Guardiola remains eager to bring the 28-year-old on board at the Etihad, which is understandable, considering he does not have a prolific striker at his disposal since the departure of Sergio Aguero. So, Kane is an option worth considering for Manchester City. However, the Tottenham striker prefers joining Real Madrid and has offered his services to the Merengues.

But Carlo Ancelotti has no intention of bringing Kane into his squad, meaning Real Madrid might not take up the offer to land Kane. Following such a development, it remains to be seen if Kane sets his sights towards a move to Manchester City or stays put at Tottenham instead.
