Everton midfielder Allan has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Italian giants AS Roma ahead of the January transfer window.

According to Tele Radio Stereo, as relayed by Giallorossi.net, AS Roma have identified Everton midfield mainstay Allan as a transfer target ahead of the winter window, as manager Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen his roster.

After spending eight years of his career in Italy with Udinese and Napoli, Allan moved to England, joining Everton in the summer of 2020. Since arriving at Goodison Park, the 30-year-old has been a permanent fixture in the middle of the park for the Blues, regularly featuring when fit and available.

To date, Allan has made 41 appearances for Everton, 15 of which have come in the ongoing campaign, and has one assist to show for his efforts. While he has been a regular in the side and performed fairly consistently, the Brazilian enforcer finds himself linked with an exit from the Merseyside outfit ahead of the January window.

AS Roma are believed to be considering a move for the 30-year-old as Mourinho looks to add more steel and tenacity to his midfield as he looks to salvage his team’s campaign. Even though the Brazilian does not fit into the vision of general manager Tiago Pinto due to his age, the Giallorossi are looking to bring him to add more experience to the squad.

A veteran of over 260 appearances in Serie A across his spells at Udinese and Napoli, Allan would certainly add value to this Roma team. To that end, they are open to the prospect of signing him on loan for the rest of the season without an obligation to make the transfer permanent.

But, his wages of over €4 million per season at Everton could prove to be an issue for the Italian capital outfit as per the report. As for Everton, given that they find themselves in a difficult position, it is very much unlikely that they would consider the possibility of letting one of their mainstays leave mid-season.

The Toffees, in fact, are looking to add more midfielders to their roster, with Juventus’ Aaron Ramsey emerging as a key target. So, even though Mourinho is looking to bring in Allan, a return to Italy for the Everton midfielder seems extremely unlikely.
