Everton are reportedly weighing up a January swoop for Netherlands international Guus Til.

According to TEAMtalk, Everton are allegedly interested in signing Feyenoord star Guus Til and are one of the many sides monitoring the 23-year-old’s situation.

The Toffees boss, Rafael Benitez, is a big admirer of Dutch starlet’s talents and is considering a move to bring the youngster to Goodison Park as he looks to bolster his attacking contingent amidst an injury crisis. However, the Blues are set to face stiff competition for his signature, with fellow English sides Wolves, West Ham, Southampton, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Brentford and Watford also listed as potential suitors.

After progressing through the youth ranks at his boyhood club AZ Alkmaar, Til was regarded as one of the most promising prospects in Dutch football, prompting Spartak Moscow to splurge £15 million to secure the young prodigy in 2019. However, things did not work out for the attacker as he struggled to settle at the Russian capital.

After an unimpressive debut campaign, he was sent out on a season-long loan move to Freiburg in the following season. However, his time in the Bundesliga was cut short after he failed to establish himself in the senior team. But, a return to his homeland with Feyenoord has enabled the Dutchman to rediscover his best form and showcase his true potential.

Presently on loan at De Kuip, Til has been in excellent form so far this campaign. The 23-year-old has scored nine goals from 16 Eredivisie appearances this term, while also sparkling in the Europa Conference League qualifiers, bagging six goals from six outings. Spartak have the option to recall him from his loan spell in January, and with mounting interest from multiple clubs, the Russian outfit will look to make a profit by cashing in on the youngster.

Everton have had a frustrating season so far. With just one win in their last eleven matches, Benitez has come under increasing scrutiny from the fanbase. The Toffees have not had any luck with injuries to key players, which has exposed their weak and imbalanced squad that lacks any real depth and quality despite heavy investment in recent years.

With resources at Goodison Park once again limited, the Spanish boss will have to spend wisely in the winter market to get Everton out of their current slump. With the honeymoon period for summer recruits Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend seemingly over, the Blues could do with the addition of a player like Til.

The 23-year-old has primarily operated as a No. 10, a position that Benitez is craving to fill after the departure of James Rodriguez, as shown by their recent links to Jesse Lingard and Donny van de Beek. Til would not only bring attacking creativity to the table, but his free-scoring attribute will add some much-needed firepower to their toothless attack.

However, there are some red flags too. Til seems to be a confidence player who has yet to prove himself outside of Eredivisie, and with cash-flow tight, Everton could do well by making some effective, tried and tested low-key signings. Only time will tell whether Everton will land the 23-year-old or turn to other alternatives.
