Newcastle United are keen on signing Tottenham Hotspur outcast Dele Alli in the January window, with a loan-to-buy move being mooted.

According to TeamTalk, Newcastle United are prepared to offer Dele Alli a temporary escape from his problems at Tottenham Hotspur in January. The Magpies hierarchy are keen on signing the attacking midfielder in the next window as they aim to avoid relegation.

Dele Alli has endured a serious decline in recent seasons after failing to make the grade at Tottenham under multiple managers. Once considered the present and the future for club and country, the attacking midfielder has barely played in the last two campaigns.

Part of the Spurs side that briefly challenged for the Premier League title under Mauricio Pochettino, Alli has seen a major dip in form in the ensuing years. Pochettino’s successor, Jose Mourinho, was unconvinced of his qualities, while he failed to win over Nuno Espirito Santo earlier this season as well.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy blocked a move last January when PSG knocked on the door over a loan move. Since then, Alli has spent plenty of time on the bench. The club have essentially failed to utilise his talents for a whole year and ended up paying his wages throughout the period.

New manager Antonio Conte does not consider him to be a part of his plans at the club, which has prompted the club to consider offloading the 25-year-old.

Tottenham would like to sell him next summer, but before that, a loan move somewhere might help them get a better value after the season. Chairman Levy hopes regular playing time between January and June will help his value rise before an inevitable sale. Alli has a contract until 2024 after signing a long-term deal back in 2018.

Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing Alli in January. The Magpies are in a precarious position in the league, rooted to the 19th place in the Premier League table. They are one of the heavy favourites to be relegated at the end of the campaign, although they remain optimistic over their survival.

Newcastle United, in light of their recent takeover, have newfound wealth to be spent on new players in January. While new boss Eddie Howe could prioritise defensive signings in a bid to avoid relegation, a few attacking stars are featuring on their widespread radar.

Newcastle are considering a loan move for Alli, and have reportedly made contact with Tottenham over a possible move for the attacking midfielder. The Magpies are keen to sign the player on a temporary basis in January with a clause that lets them sign him permanently in the summer if they avoid relegation.

In hindsight, it is an ideal deal from Spurs’ perspective. Alli too might be keen on the move, which could give him the chance to play regularly. While the opportunity to play for England again may seem like a distant dream, Alli could certainly hope to rediscover his dwindling form at St. James’ Park.
