Bayern Munich are reportedly willing to pay €30 million to sign Marc-Andre ter Stegen from Barcelona next summer.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Bayern Munich seem to be stepping up their efforts to secure the services of Marc-Andre ter Stegen in next summer’s transfer window. The Bavarian giants are prepared to offer €30 million to prise the German goalkeeping ace away from Barcelona.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen is going through his worst phase as a Barcelona player, having become uncharacteristically prone to making errors between the sticks. So, he has compounded Barcelona’s woes this season, as the Blaugrana have been left without a reliable presence in goal.

The 29-year-old has kept only six clean sheets in 20 appearances across all competitions this term, conceding 25 goals in the process. The German international’s struggles have left Barcelona frustrated, with the Blaugrana considering the prospect of cashing in on him. Such a situation has piqued the interest of Bayern Munich.

The Bavarian giants are looking to lay down a succession plan for captain Manuel Neuer, who is in the twilight of his storied career. Widespread reports have also suggested that the veteran goalkeeper could hang up his gloves at the end of the ongoing season, which explains why Bayern Munich might be eager to bring in a successor as soon as possible.

To that end, ter Stegen has emerged as a target for Bayern, with recent reports claiming that Barcelona could ask them to shell out €70 million to secure his services. However, the Bundesliga champions are only willing to offer €30 million in exchange for the German goalkeeping ace.

Such a situation could create an impasse between Barcelona and Bayern Munich. The report claims that the Blaugrana will demand a higher sum to part with the 29-year-old, although Xavi Hernandez views him as an essential component of his squad.

For their part, the Catalan giants have been linked with several replacement options, with Unai Simon among the players on their radar. So, it remains to be seen if Barcelona’s demands for the transfer fee are met by Bayern Munich or if a compromise is reached between the two clubs next summer.
