Barcelona are reportedly keen on signing Christian Pulisic on loan from Chelsea in the January transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are stepping up their efforts to secure the services of Christian Pulisic. The Catalan giants are eager to sign the Chelsea forward on loan in the January transfer window.

Christian Pulisic joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in July 2019 and has since endured a topsy-turvy ride at Stamford Bridge. While the American forward enjoyed a solid maiden campaign with the Blues, he has been blighted by fitness issues since the beginning of the 2020/21 season.

The same has been the case thus far in the ongoing campaign, restricting Pulisic to only three starts in the 25 games played by Chelsea this term. With competition for places in the attacking unit being intense, widespread reports have claimed that a Chelsea forward could be on his way out of the club in the January transfer window, with Barcelona keen on signing Pulisic.

The interest from Barcelona is understandable, considering Xavi is down to his bare bones when it comes to options in the attacking department. Memphis Depay is the latest Barcelona player to be sidelined with an injury, with the treatment room already brimming with star players like Ansu Fati and Sergio Aguero.

While several other clubs have been linked with Pulisic, Chelsea would be hesitant in dealing with a Premier League outfit, which gives Barcelona a good chance to snap him up. And Pulisic could be a handy option for Xavi in the second half of the season, with the Blaugrana in need of inspiration in the final third.

Pulisic is not the only Chelsea player on Barcelona’s radar, with the club also keen on signing Cesar Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger, according to Mundo Deportivo. As far as the pursuit of Pulisic is concerned, the Catalan giants want to snap him up on an initial loan deal in the January transfer window, with the pursuits of Azpilicueta and Rudiger shelved till the summer.

With Chelsea reportedly open to dealing with Barcelona, it remains to be seen if Pulisic swaps Stamford Bridge for Camp Nou in the second half of the season or stays put at the west London club to fight for his place.
