Barcelona are reportedly tracking the situation of Jadon Sancho, who could leave Manchester United despite only arriving in the summer.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Jadon Sancho is weighing up the possibility of leaving Manchester United despite arriving at Old Trafford in the summer transfer window. There are several clubs keeping tabs on his situation, including Barcelona.

Jadon Sancho joined Manchester United in July 2021 following a productive four-year spell with Borussia Dortmund, where he had established himself as one of the best players in the Bundesliga. However, the move has not worked out as envisioned for the 21-year-old, who has been in and out of the starting lineup in the first half of the 2021/22 season.

The English international has only two goals in 19 appearances across all competitions. The player’s struggles thus far this season with Manchester United have not helped his case at international level either, as he has been a backup option for the Three Lions in the last few games. Sancho’s situation has now been noticed by a few bigwigs of European football, including Barcelona.

The interest from Barcelona is understandable, considering their struggles in the final third this season. The injury suffered by Memphis Depay has further worsened Xavi Hernandez’s woes, with star attackers Ansu Fati and Sergio Aguero already on the sidelines.

With Luuk de Jong and Philippe Coutinho deemed surplus to requirements at Camp Nou, the need to bolster the attack has been accentuated even more. As a result, several attacking players have been linked with Barcelona, including Christian Pulisic. And Sancho is also a viable target for Barcelona.

The Catalan giants have been linked with a few other Manchester United players, with Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial also on their radar. However, Sancho would be a better fit in Xavi’s system, thereby making him an option worth considering for Barcelona.

In addition to Barcelona, Sancho is also being courted by Bayern Munich. However, a move to the Allianz Stadium will never see the light of the day due to the Englishman’s past with Borussia Dortmund.

Meanwhile, Barcelona might not be able to afford Sancho either due to his wage demands and the excessive transfer fee that could be sought by Manchester United. So, it remains to be seen if the Blaugrana can land Sancho, although the mere suggestion of the player’s departure from Old Trafford seems absurd.
